Day #1:75 Day Hard & Charlie Kirk Testimony

Last year, (Summer 2025), my oldest daughter (who was going to be a college senior at the time), came home and was doing a 75-Day Hard, during her summer vacation!  I had never heard of a 75-Day Hard but it sounded like a diet/exercise program I might be interested in. I worked out regularly but was not at my goal weight so I asked her what it was.  She said she got the program from some influencer she saw on instagram and the rules were:

75 Day Hard Challenge Rules

  1. No Alcohol
  2. Any Diet Plan
  3. Drink 1 Gallon of Water per day
  4. One 45-minute Indoor Workout per day
  5. One 45-minute Outdoor Workout per day
  6. Read 10 pages of non-fiction per day
  7. Take a progress Picture every day!

She said the rules were very strict and the creator of the program says,  “If you fail or skip even a single task on any given day, you must restart completely from Day 1.”

Problem: When I looked at the list, I immediately knew which things would be “Hard” and which things would be easier. Giving up wine (one of my weaknesses) for 75-days would be hard as well as beginning to count calories/points again. After having to lose, pregnancy, weight four times, I just wanted to work out, eat lots of fruits/vegetables and drink wine, ice cream and chips in moderation. Plus back then (2012ish), when I lost the last of my pregnancy weight I swore I would never count calories again! However, I knew drinking wine and not counting calories was holding me back from reaching my personal goal weight.

Solution: With my education and background in Behavior Modification Training as a Social Pathologist, I knew/know the science behind how to create goals that have lasting effects on behavior change. Scientifically (statistically), goals have to be measurable, observable and obtainable!  The length of 75-days and the strict rules of starting over at day 1 if I missed even one of the challenge rules was a deal breaker for me. The rigid rules made me not even want to participate in the challenge!  Yet, I knew if I modified the original challenge (so it wasn’t so strict on things that didn’t matter to reach my personal goals) I could have success.

Example: Back in Fall 2025, I modified the challenge by shortening the challenge to 45-Days.  I was very strict on eliminating wine/alcohol, staying within my allotted points on weight watchers and completing the two 45- minute workouts per day.  I still gave effort to the other rules (like drinking 1 gallon water per day) but I would not start over if I drank ½ gallon of water. Drinking ½ gallon of water is still a 45-Day HARD for me after birthing 4 children (3 natural and 1 c-section), being close to 50 and having a small bladder to start with!

I had success with my 45-day Hard FOR ME challenge!  From September 2-November 18th, 2025 I lost 16.6 lbs!  I did not reach my goal weight but I had enough success that I was excited and motivated to begin the challenge again after the Holidays! For New Year’s I made the Resolution to complete a 75-Day Hard this year!

Testimony: Fast forward and today is Day #1 of my 75-Day Hard and I am starting to begin achieving my goal on the exact day Charlie Kirk was assassinated last year:(. Sadly, and to be honest, my husband and I had never even heard of Charlie Kirk until his assassination but from watching his videos and funeral it was apparent that Charlie Kirk dreamed, set goals and had lots of success (with the Holy Spirit’s help of course)!

Charlie also encouraged everyone around him to have hope and live out her/his own American dream!  He specifically encouraged college students to take chances (like starting a business), or asking-out the cute girl/guy they find attractive, to marry young and raise lots of children in Judeo-Christian homes! This is indeed how our country has been made great and how our country will MAGA!

Mike and I are so blessed to be living the life Charlie spoke about! We met and married young (25 years ago) in May of 2001.  Mike was 26 and I was 24.  We didn’t have much money but he was mature for his age, had his Masters Degree and a good job in sales. I had a job working as a Social Pathologist for Orange Unified School District and was in the very beginning of my Masters program.

We dreamed about having four children, owning a house in Huntington Beach (which seemed way out of our price range at the time!) and having me stay-home as the full time CEO of our house!  Through hard work and trials (Jesus did say “take up your cross and follow me”)  God has allowed us to live our American Dream and then some!  As an added bonus to our four children and house in Huntington Beach, we own a business, a dog and a wake surf boat. Honestly, the Bible verse Ephesians 3:20 in action, “Now unto Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us.”

At 49, I have realized I have loved goal setting my entire life (like Charlie but with a different God-given purpose) and seeing what God can do to help us accomplish our goals! Some goals can even seem a little out of reach but somehow the Holy Spirit comes in and helps us at just the right timing! Some of my goals can still bother my husband a lil’ bit when I first come up with the new idea (especially when it comes to traveling) but he is learning to enjoy the ride via planes, trains, shuttles, subways, buses, cruise ships, boats and road trips; 😉 Plus he has been editing all of our photos from the last 25 years and is appreciating what a rich-full life God has given us for taking all the chances He has provided us!

After 25 years of marriage, our dreams, goals and blessings keep coming! Like I said, I am beginning Day #1 of my 75-Day Hard today and for my 45-minute outdoor workout my husband and I wakesurfed, e-foiled and paddle boarded.  For lunch, we had a picnic on our boat w/ tuna salad lettuce wraps and ice-cold watermelon.  Nothing beats ice cold watermelon on a hot boat day!  The “Hard” part of my Day #1 was watching my husband eat chips at lunch and not indulging as well as going back to our sun scorched VRBO to do my indoor yoga workout. It’s a tough American Life but somebody’s got to do it!

All of these blessings & dreams have been fulfilled by God and only because of the great country we are so beyond blessed to live in, combined with our own goal setting & hard work. “May he give you the desire of your heart and make all your plans succeed!” Psalm 20:4
