Gospel Summary: Mathew 6:28-34: Solomon, Wisdom, Prayer & God’s Provision 🍏🤩

November 25, 2025 by Mrs. Smith

November 25, 2025

In this gospel message, Jesus uses Solomon’s magnificent glory to make a point about how much God cares for his followers. He says, “Not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these (lilies)” to teach that if God clothes the flowers (lillies) so beautifully, He will certainly provide for the needs of his people.

I absolutely love the song attached below that spreads this gospel message about God’s provision so beautifully on its own! It is called:

Consider the Lillies By: Claire Crosby (6 yrs old)

That said, this next-level gospel message on wisdom, prayer & God’s provision is better understood by knowing who Solomon was in the Old Testament/Jewish Torah. King Solomon was King David’s second living son through David’s (sinful) union with Bathsheba.

The Bible says that God loved Solomon! He enjoyed just watching him sleep and grow up! If you are a parent and you have enjoyed watching your children sleep, grow up, develop and learn you can relate to God’s love for Solomon!

Solomon was heir to the throne and put in charge of the Kingdom at a very young age (around 15-20 years old).  Being so young, he was overwhelmed with the responsibility (of ruling the nation of Israel), and he went to God for guidance and wisdom. God was overjoyed that Solomon came to him in prayer to ask for His guidance and he gave Solomon an outpouring of wisdom.

With all of the wisdom God gave Solomon, he became the greatest, righteous, business person arguably of all time! The GOAT of righteous, business people! He built a huge empire, a gorgeous engineering masterpiece (it was both fashionable & functional)! If you have ever remodeled or tried to build a home, you know making something look good and also function is difficult to do! It is expensive and it all has to be thought out from the beginning, which is why God’s wisdom (ahead of time) was crucial for Solomon in business and specifically the construction business!

Solomon also built the most beautiful temple the Jewish people ever had on this earth! So when Jesus is saying, “Not even Solomon in all his glory was arrayed like one of these (lilies)” he was teaching us that if God clothes the flowers (lillies) so beautifully, He will certainly provide for the needs of his people! He is saying that if we follow Jesus and come and ask Him for wisdom, he will give us wisdom and more provision then we can even dream for ourselves!

Worship Song: Jireh  By: Elevation Worship & Maverick City Music

Solomon also wrote the book of Proverbs (which is also called the book of Wisdom) in the Bible! His famous verse, Proverbs 3:5-6 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding, in all your ways acknowledge Him and He will make your paths straight” leads us all (Jews, gentiles, slave, free, woman, man) back to the Lord for wisdom/discernment because Solomon knew true wisdom came from the Lord.

In Proverbs, Solomon also encouraged people to have business advisors. His mother (Bathsheba) was one of his top advisors and when he refers to wisdom in the book of proverbs he uses she/her pronouns.

Not coincidentally (because there are no coincidences with God), Eve, in the Garden of Eden, wanted wisdom but only through a relationship with Jesus (the creator) could she have true wisdom!

A side note, Pontious Pilate would have been better off taking his wife’s (helpmate’s) spiritual advisor guidance then succumbing to social pressure from the Jews to have Jesus crucified!

Insert Mr. Smith’s Vlog Testimony on Wisdom, Prayer and Provision in Sports & Business.

Prayer for Our Children:

We are praying all of our children each go to Jesus (in relationship) and ask for his wisdom (like

Solomon) to help HER/HIM LIVE THEIR OWN BEST LIFE!

In the bible it says our birth dates and our death dates are predetermined!  So, we know from the bible, all the false advertising about foods and preventative health care extending our lives is rubbish!  But…..and this is a HUGE BUT……. Each person can affect her/his quality of life by the daily, WISE, choices $/HE makes.

Of course, in this modern day, with all the screen distractions, if you don’t plan ahead, wisely prioritizing your time, you will waste hours and hours of your life on screens that you will never be able to get back!  The screens suck you in and will waste your life away!

However, using time wisely leads to living your own best-Holy Spirit driven-life!  Specifically creating long term goals, benchmarking those goals and prioritizing how much time you will spend on each goal daily! If you go to God (and your mother) and ask for wisdom like Solomon did, I am certain He will give you all the wisdom and provision you need to chase your dreams and lead others to the Kingdom! He wants to give you wisdom! He wants you to live your best life! It is the life he died (a very painful death) to give you! Praying you lead with wisdom in your own unique way!

September: Back 2 $chool Night for our $weet HOME ECONOMIC$ $ocial $ecret$ of the Bible Cla$$  🍏🤩

November 16, 2025 by Mrs. Smith

Welcome to Back 2 $chool Night (blog style) for our brand new $weet HOME ECONOMIC$ $ocial $ecret$ of the Bible Cla$$  🍏🤩 I’m Mrs. Smith and I’m the online teacher for this brand new cla$$ (AKA $/HE cla$$ because girls put the SWEET in Home Economics;) This is a beginning level  #STEM Class that adds Religion and Art. Adding Religion & Art makes it a #$TREAM Class.  Not coincidentally, (since there are no coincidences with God), a #STREAM is also a small body of water that a free-willing soul could easily use to be baptized in!

For those of you who are not familiar with STEM classes….

Google says……“A STEM class is any class that focuses on Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.  These classes often involve hands-on, problem-based learning and aim to develop skills applicable to real-world challenges and future careers.  STEM  is NOT just a collection of separate subjects, but an integrated-approach to learning, often incorporating real-world applications and connections between the different disciplines. “

From this google definition this brand new  $weet Home Economic$ $ocial $ecret$ of the Bible Cla$$ ($/HE Cla$$) absolutely qualifies as a STEM class and even better, a $TREAM cla$$!

Let me explain…….

S stands for Science. We are going to be learning the science of the social skills involved in running your own $weet-home, bu$ine$$ or both. Home Economic$ cla$$e$ generally include nutrition, textiles and entrepreneur$hip but they don’t usually cover the $ocial/$piritual $kill$ it takes to run your own home or bu$ine$$.

I am a $ocial Pathologist with my Masters of Science Degree from Loma Linda University and a certificate in Discreet Trial Training.  I have lots of education and experience in teaching & training social skills in the public school, hospital, private practice & at-home settings.

I have also been running our family’s home, as CEO, since Mr. Smith and I got married almost 25 years ago (May 2001),  all while loving and training our four children now ages 22, 19, 17 and 14 (in 2025) as well as our GoldenDoodle, Smitty who is 9:)

As far as entrepreneurship, I was one of the main encouragers for my husband, Mr. Smith, to begin his own business 22 years ago. Of course, initially, I did the math and saw that it could be a very profitable business for our growing family but probably the reason I felt the Holy Spirit pushing him in this direction was because my first job at 12 years old, outside my childhood home, was as an entrepreneur and freelance babysitter. I knew the time flexibility and extra cash it brought me while I was juggling going to school/college & working other jobs. I freelance babysat, from age 12 to 22, for well over 65 families sometimes long-term and other times just one night when parents needed a responsible sitter.

T stands for Technology. I, Mrs. Smith, am the co-creator and online teacher for this modern Sweet Home Economics ($/HE) $ocial $ecret$ of the Bible cla$$. All of the weekly $weet Home Economic$ Testimonie$, $ocial $kills Lesson$, optional $TREAM $ocial $kills Homework Assignment$ and Recipe$ will be assigned and turned in with the use of technology, which is a private on-line classroom page. See AmenWeekly.com About Us (scroll to the bottom) for $tudent regi$tration information.

This flex-$cheduling cla$$ (not live) uses technology so $tudent$ can learn the $ocial/$piritual skills of running their own home/bu$ine$$ at their own pace when her/his own bu$y $chedule allow$.

R stands for Religion.  The religion I will be teaching about has nothing to do with church walls!  It has to do with hearts & minds focused on God/Jesus/Holy Spirit in our everyday lives! For children, that starts in the home and moves into school, sports, church, art and other extracurricular activities!

I will be teaching spiritual love as our Religion. The Holy Spirit as our Religion. The fruit of the Spirit as our Religion!  In Galatians 5:22-23 it says,  “But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, honesty, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.  Against such things there is no law.”

I discussed in our Introductory social/spiritual skills lesson with your students that since I know the science of social skills and it agrees with the bible, I can not ethically teach a social skills class without teaching spiritual/character skills (righteous living) from the Bible.

This Beginning Level $/HE cla$$ (also the Intermediate, Advanced $/HE cla$$e$ and the Summer Entrepreneur$hip Camp) will include spiritual/character training to run a home or business in the areas of the fruit of the spirit including but not limited to: Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Honesty, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self-Control as our Religion! No laws! The aim of this cla$$ is to teach the spirit of the law!

E stands for Engineering.  My adopted father, growing up, was a civil & environmental engineer. He was valedictorian of his high school cla$$ and went to $tanford for graduate $chool. When he retired (about 12 years ago) he was the Chief Engineer of LA County Sanitation Districts ( the CEO of the company).  LA County Sanitation Districts is privately owned but works for the government because these brilliant engineers have figured out how to be a profitable business. That’s right! They don’t take tax dollars to collect your trash because they reduce, reuse and recycle everything! They operate independently and privately! Growing up I was able to model from him, glean from him and learn from his vast engineering knowledge and watch how he ran a home that is simultaneously time effective, cost effective and environmentally effective! I have used his example & intellect to run a home while raising our four children (in the technology generation) that is time effective, cost effective and environmentally effective!

A stands for Art=! Culinary Arts!! Culinary Arts is obviously an art and we post a recipe on our private online classroom page for each lesson.

Parenting is also an art! Teaching social/spiritual skills is an Art!  I try to emphasize to your students that I am their online teacher but their parents at home are their first teachers and are able to make this cla$$ come alive!

I do not have the opportunities as an online teacher to do the creative-artistic part of this cla$$!. I teach social skills the way scientific research, the bible and my own parenting experiences (successes & failures) have led me.  Parents individualize the lessons to fit each of their child/children’s unique personalities, interests and home economics/social skills levels.

Teachers at home know their own student’s developmental levels and areas of strengths and weaknesses. They will be able to show their student(s) around their own unique kitchen/home, keep students safe in their kitchen/home and use the social/spiritual experiences to bond and create memories with their student(s) or entire family!

*Please note their teacher at home can be a parent/grandparent/nanny/teacher’s aide but each student should have a teacher who can individualize this cla$$ for each their $tudent.

M stands for Mathematics. Running a Sweet Home or Business includes a lot of basic math!  I already discussed how being raised by an engineer has given me lots of knowledge about running a home in the most time effective, cost effective and environmentally effective way. You can not run a home effectively without math! Being time effective, cost effective and environmentally effective includes basic math concepts that most people in school take for granted! Time management/organization, book keeping, basic measuring in the kitchen or measuring for a kitchen remodel all takes math!

Running a home or business well also requires implementing the scientific method which depends on a higher level math called statistics. Statistics is more than just the basic math that is needed to balance a checking account. Along with the scientific method it can help parents analyze research data and provide accurate educational testing methods, medical interventions, sports training effectiveness or dog training and opportunities in business/investments.

In summary, the main GOAL of our private STREAM $/HE cla$$ is for students to gain biblical wisdom and self-discipline which boosts social confidence which is also spiritual confidence. It is going to help students in their lives right now at-home as well as how to be successful socially in school, sports, at church, business and/or other extra-curricular activities. It will also help students when they start dating, go away to college, get their first job and when they get married, have their own children and need to run their own sweet-home!

In order to join our private on-line classroom visit AmenWeekly.com About Us and scroll down to how to register for the cla$$. See you in cla$$!

John 2:13-22 The New Temple is our bodies (hearts & minds) on Him.

November 16, 2025 by Mrs. Smith

November 9, 2025

“Zeal for your house will consume me.”

Summary of the Gospel:

Jesus is fuming mad 😡 He makes a whip out of cords & he drives the gentiles with sheep & oxen out of the temple area. He spills the money changers coins & overturns their tables.

Jesus was/is mad for two reasons. The first reason was money changers were ripping off the people who were being forced to buy special certified animals at highly inflated prices. These greedy business people were making money off religious sacrifices. The second reason was by selling animals (right there at the temple), the people were making it easy and convenient so they could buy their way into good standing before God. But with God there are no shortcuts! We can’t buy our way into good standing! The point of the God-mandated animal sacrifices for the Jewish people (& Jesus’s sacrifice), was to cleanse people of their sins so they could be Holy, to worship (praise) God.

Mrs. Smith’s Testimony

World History proves the Jewish people had two earthly temples. The first one was built by Solomon and was absolutely breath taking but was destroyed by the Babylonians when the Israelites were taken into captivity. The second temple was built by the prophet Ezra in perfect timing for Jesus’s birth, death & resurrection. This is the temple where Jesus was mad and driving all the money changers out. This temple was destroyed about 40 years later in 70 AD when the Roman army burned Jerusalem but of course after Jesus’ life purpose was accomplished.

God’s/Jesus’ goal was never a physical temple! In Ephesians 3 Paul said God had revealed his plan from the beginning to him. God was weaving everyone’s unique personalities into a great plan (even our mistakes), to show his wisdom & creativity to all the heavenly authorities! All heavenly authorities? I don’t know if my mind can grasp this! Are these heavenly authorities on earth? Or in heaven now? Or the new heaven that Jesus is creating??? Obviously this is a great mystery but blows my mind!

Oprah has said as she was on the elevator up to her show in Chicago  (because it was such a big responsibility), she would pray and say to God, “Use me.”

That is a great prayer! Wether we are aware of it (as Oprah was) or not God is using our bodies, unique personalities, passions and talents (even our mistakes) to show his wisdom and creativity to heavenly authorities! Surrendering to God’s plan for each of us is the most fulfilling way to go, even with the inevitable persecutions it brings. We were “Born This Way” to show His wisdom and creativity to authorities in heavenly places!!!!

Prayers for Our Children:

Our prayer for our children is they pray for God to use their bodies as their temples (minds, hearts & souls). We are praying that they don’t waste time on screens but they use their time wisely and get 8-10 hours of sleep at night, eat nutrient-rich foods and exercise. This way, they can be fully engaged (minds & hearts) in our family Bible study, at school, work and other extra-curricular activities based on their own unique personalities, talents, passions and interests to do whatever God has planned for them each day! You were all Born this Way!

John 6:37-40 Imagining Heaven Testimony

November 3, 2025 by Mrs. Smith

November 2, 2025

Summary of Gospel:  Summarizing this gospel is very simple. Believers in Jesus’s birth, death and resurrection are going to Heaven.  Believers will be resurrected from physical death to eternal life.  All physical (in this life) deteriorates and dies but spiritual lives forever!  Jesus also promises a New Heaven and New Earth when He comes again but this is a more confusing concept even to bible scholars!

Mathew 25:34 Then the King will say to those on his right, “Come you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the CREATION OF THE WORLD!

Mrs. Smith’s Testimony

In 2009, I was 32 years old, and for the first time in my life, (since I can remember), I was having doubts about my faith and life after death. The ironic part is Mr. Smith and I were living our dreams and had had many successes (as far as worldly standards at this time). We had been married 8 years, had 3 healthy children, (Emily was almost 6, Julia was 3 and Mikey was), a growing business, owned our own home in Huntington Beach, California (even through the 2007 mortgage crisis) and I was (mostly), a stay-at-home mom.

We went to weekly church as a family (as I had my entire life), but Mr. Smith & I were also “self-help” people always striving to live our very best lives. I was struggling with questions internally regarding faith and works. Were these successes/blessings because of our choices and work ethic? If they were from our choices and work ethic then did God exist? Is there nothingness when we die???

For some reason (looking back probably the Holy Spirit’s prompting), I started googling Near Death Experiences (NDE’s).  For over a period of about 2 months, I googled and read through at least 250 NDE’s. I found these testimonies fascinating and faith building! Most of the people who experienced an NDE went to heaven, although about 5-10 percent went to hell:(

Of the NDE’s that went to heaven, there were almost always 3 commonalities.   The first was the person experiencing the NDE saw a bright light and had an overwhelming feeling of love and/or peace. The second was that the person experiencing the NDE was welcomed by a loved one who had passed or Jesus himself.  The third and the most important thing for me to share (especially with our 4 children and other families while we are living in this world) is the person experiencing the NDE always wanted to stay in Heaven but they were told they had to go back because they had “more work to do.”

In the song, “When I get where I’m going,”  by Brad Paisley, the lyrics talk about what the singer is going to do when he gets to heaven. Then he discusses our world right now, “so much pain and so much darkness in this world, we stumble through all these questions I can’t answer and so much WORK to do.”

There is work for us to do! Of course salvation (heaven) is through believing in Jesus’ birth, death and resurrection. Psalm 23 says, “God is our only HOPE for eternal life and security!  Surely goodness and unfailing love will pursue me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.”

But…….there is work for all of us to do! Unique work for each person!! Reading and studying NDEs and imagining heaven from testimonies of people who have been there has strengthened my faith. NDEs have also strengthened Mr. Smith’s faith, so in the John 6:37-40 You Tube video testimony link below, Mr. Smith is going to tell the audience (which is our 4 children and other families) about what he knows about heaven through reading and studying the bible and also through reading and listening to scientific studies on Near Death Experiences (NDE’s).

1 Corinthians 13:12 For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face.  Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known.

So the SPIRITUAL life is filled with Faithfulness/ Belief in Jesus’ Birth, Death, Resurrection & Imagining Heaven:)

Galatians 5:22-23 SAYS SO…..…….

“But the fruit of the SPIRIT is 1) love ,2) joy, 3) peace, 4) patience, 5) kindness, 6) truth, 7) Faithfulness/Imagining Heaven, 8) Gentleness, & 9) Self-Control. Against such things there is no law.”

The SPIRIT-filled life is filled with the 7th fruit of the spirit, which is Faithfulness.  Belief in Eternal Life/Heaven is part of #7 FAITHFULNESS!

Remember in 2009 when I was struggling to understand between faith and works? NDEs and studying the Bible have revealed some important spiritual skills to me. One skill is knowing God controls the amount of time we have on this earth. It says in the bible that God knows our birth dates and our death dates.  Quantity of life is therefore, predetermined. However, our quality of life can be altered through our own free will choices (and even this is a mystery). For me, imagining heaven helps me when trials inevitably come.  At the young age of 14, Anne Frank said, “People who have a religion should be glad, for not everyone has the gift of believing in heavenly things.” Imagining heavenly things helps us even during unimaginable trials.

Prayers for our Children:

Our prayer for our children this week is that they find the work/purpose we know God has for each of them.  The Holy Spirit has given us (as their parents) clues because of their unique personalities and interests but our hope is each of them find (and free-willingly) pursue God’s purpose for each of them, as opposed to wasting time scrolling on devices:/ Imagining heaven is a wonderful start to knowing what your passions and goals are.

In 2023, Chris Pratt, (at Christian Family Day at Dodgers Stadium), said that we can experience heaven on earth.  We agree but one would have to imagine their own unique heaven to know when $/HE got there:) Since our children are now related to Chris Pratt (through marriage) to the Kennedy family we are asking them, “Ask not what you can do for yourself, ask what you can do (in your everyday life) to further the gospel message of truth and grace?

WE HOPE 🙏YOU DANCE KIDS!!!!!!

Luke 18:9-14 Jesus’ Parable of the Pharisee & the Tax Collector: Prayer & Humility

October 26, 2025 by Mrs. Smith

October 26, 2025

  1. Luke 18:9-14 Summary

In this week’s Gospel reading, (Luke 18:9-14) Jesus tells another parable to the large crowd gathering to listen to his teachings. Luke 18:9 says “Then Jesus told this story to some who had great confidence in their own righteousness and scorned everyone else.”

In the parable, Jesus purposefully chose to speak about a Pharisee & a Tax Collector. The Pharisees, at the time, were part of the religious elite and most of them hated Jesus out of jealousy.  Jesus was dominating their profession in regards to prayer, preaching and being genuinely filled with the Holy Spirit.  Tax collectors were hated by the Jews because they were collecting unjust Roman tax money and many times saving a portion for themselves.

In the parable (and I suppose at that time in history), people who lived near Jerusalem would often go to the Temple to pray.  The rebuilt temple was the center of their worship.  This Pharisee went to the Temple-not to pray to God- but to announce to all within ear shot how good he was.

The Tax Collector, on the other hand,  went to the Temple  and was genuinely praying to God. He was admitting his imperfections (his sin) and humbly begging for forgiveness.

So the SPIRITUAL life is filled with genuine PRAYER & HUMILITY to  God/Jesus.

Galatians 5:22-23 SAYS SO…..…….

“But the fruit of the SPIRIT is 1) love ,2) joy, 3) peace, 4) patience, 5) kindness, 6) truth, 7) Faithfulness/PRAYER, 8) Gentleness/HUMILITY, & 9) Self-Control. Against such things there is no law.”

The SPIRIT-filled life is filled with the 7th fruit of the spirit, which is Faithfulness.  PRAYER is part of Faithfulness.

Prayer has 3 parts and includes:

  1. Thankfulness to God
  2. Asking God for Forgiveness (as in this case) and for blessings, help, miracles, ect.
  3. Conversation with God (Both Us Talking to Him and Listening to His answers)

The SPIRIT-filled life is also filled with the 8th fruit of the spirit which is gentleness/HUMILITY to God.

The spirit filled life gives glory to God and is in opposition to pride (either self-pride or pride in a group of people!)

Luke 18:14 Jesus continues (& I’m sure shocked the audience and enraged the Pharisees listening), “The sinner (not the Pharisee) returned home justified before God.  For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

2. Luke 18:9-14 Mrs. Smith’s Testimony

The subject of pride vs humility makes me think of a booklet our second child, our daughter Julia, illustrated when she was about 8 years old. She wisely titled the piece, Giving Grace.”  I have treasured it for 11 years!  One of the short, 1 page illustrations, was about a boy in her class who was bragging (prideful), he was gonna lose his tooth.

She told me, (when she was sharing her booklet with me), that she had thought to herself at school (but didn’t say anything out loud), “I’m gonna lose my tooth cause I’m not bragging about it.”  Then, sure enough, she lost her tooth and the other boy didn’t:/  She understood innately what Jesus said,   “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

At the time, I had read and understood the gospel messages for many years prior to this and I knew Jesus had also said, in Mathew 11:25,  “Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth; you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the kingdom.  Julia knew innately Jesus’ law of prayer and humility without studying the gospel because Jesus reveals the mysteries of the kingdom to children.  She understood Jesus’s mystery “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted” in a childlike way about a boy bragging he was going to lose a tooth.  Maybe Julia had understood the gospel messages because she was in Catholic-Christian school at the time but even so she had an innate knowledge (biblical wisdom), through listening to gospel in church and school that adults sometimes can’t understand.

In the book of Proverbs (AKA the book of wisdom), written 1,000 years before Jesus, Solomon said, “Before a downfall the heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.” This is another way of saying what Jesus said, “For those who exalt themselves will be humbled, and those who humble themselves will be exalted.”

3. Luke 18:9-14 Related Song is Pride by U-2

I love Jesus.  I love MLK and I love the song, In the Name of Love by Bono.  I truly feel the power of the Holy Spirit in this song but I’m not a big fan of Bono also calling this song  “Pride” or even worse referring to Jesus and MLK as “they could not take your pride.”  1 Corinthians 13:4-7 says, “Love is patient, love is kind.  It does not envy, it does not boast, IT IS NOT PROUD!

Of course I’m  gonna give Bono some grace on using the word pride in relation to Jesus and MLK.  He was very young, (I’m sure) when he wrote this mega hit.  I don’t think he had read the bible or really understood what the bible says about pride.  Many Catholic-Christians don’t read the bible.  Pride is the opposite of what Jesus and MLK were doing!

Jesus freewillingly surrendered to God’s plan and purpose for his life.  He did not have pride.  He was modeling true love for all of us which we know from the 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 verse that love is NOT proud.

In his famous “I have a Dream Speech” MLK said that he saw the promised land but did not know if he was gonna get there.  God’s purpose for him was to peacefully protest unjust laws, which were made against black people.  He obviously had a close relationship with Jesus.  He was surrendering to God’s purpose and plan for his life. He said, “I’ve seen the promised land but I may not get there with you but I only want to do God’s will.” He was a Reverend and he trusted God’s purpose and plan for his life so he did not have pride in himself or even a group. He was surrendering to God’s plan and purpose for his life.

 4. Luke 18:9-14 Prayer for our Children

One of the hardest character traits to teach our children is having confidence while also simultaneously having humility/gentleness.  Usually confident teenagers have self-pride until something humbles them like an injury or accident. Or teenagers who are more naturally gentle/humble are scared to try new things. The only way to teach these two character traits (confidence and humility), simultaneously to our children is through Bible education and encouragement.

Our prayer is that our children have faith in God’s power over all situations like King David but also have humility like Moses, by walking in close relationship with the Lord.

Mr. Smith pointed out, in our family bible study, that God has two ways to humble us.  One way is the same as the Tax Collector.  We can make mistakes (sin) and those sins have consequences that catch up to us.  The other way is by trying to plan/control/work to fight and force things to happen in our own strength like Jacob (the heal catcher) God reveals his power over our works everytime!  True prayer and humility is living in sweet surrender to God’s plan and purposes! Amen means “Yes” or “I surrender!”

Praying our children plan their work and work their plan but have the humility and discernment (through prayer) to surrender to God’s purpose/plan in each of their lives!
