Apple & Date Cereal for the Teacher Ephesians 6:2

October 30, 2023 by Mrs. Smith

In this video my goal was to teach our Home Economics Students to begin paying attention for opportunities to help you (their parents who are their first teachers) in the kitchen. I taught your students the biblical, spiritual and social skill to as Ephesians 6:2 says “Honor your Father and Mother. This is the first commandment with a promise, that it may go well with you and that you may have a long life on earth.” At the end of the lesson, I specifically showed them how to make a overnight oats breakfast recipe we call “Apple and Date Cereal for the Teacher.” I encouraged them to make the recipe for you (their parents) if they thought you would enjoy it. I told them that if they did not think their parents would enjoy the cereal to try and observe what you like and if they didn’t observe anything to  just plain ask you what you like. This should help give your child(ren)  some ideas of how they can help you.

In the entrepreneurship curriculum called Lemonade to Leadership by Bonnie Bruce one of the chapters is dedicated to “Looking for opportunity.” Teaching kids to look for opportunities to help out their own parents in their own home is the first step to entrepreneurship or getting their first paid job outside the home.

I began by explaining to your student that when they are born their parents do everything for them. When they go to college or move out they will have to make the transition to doing more and more things for themselves.  They have the opportunity to begin now while they are in 2nd-8th grade. I forgot to mention that younger & older children as well as adults can also benefit from learning these new recipes as well as the biblical, spiritual and social skills we are addressing. Wishing The Blessing (By: Elevation Worship) w/ a Promise to ALL Our Spiritual Families<3<3

Introduction: Sweet Home Economics w/ a Bible Message Class & Club (Proverbs 22:6)

October 12, 2023 by Mrs. Smith

Hi! My name is Mrs. Smith!

I am super excited to be teaching a Pilot Home Economics with a Bible message Class this Fall for students in Grades 2-8. Along with some yummy seasonal recipes in this class I am also going to be teaching students many spiritual & social skills they can use and practice in order to live out the great commission (John 21) at home now as well where ever God leads them in their future- college, career and family life! These spiritual & social skills pull heavily from the book of Proverbs (which is the book of wisdom in the bible). The book of wisdom (as does the entire bible) agrees with scientifically researched social training techniques I have learned and have had many experiences teaching as a nationally licensed Social Pathologist. I am also going to share these spiritual/social training techniques with you (parents) via weekly posts (instagram, blog, etc.) Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way s/he should go and when he is old s/he will not depart from it.

So that being said if you have a 2nd-8th grader that would like to watch our Sweet Home Economics with a Bible Message Class Videos subscribe to our YouTube Channel called AmenWeekly. Some of the videos for the class will be public but some will be private so your going to want to make sure you subscribe so you don’t miss any of the classes because they tend to build on each other.

I would also encourage you to encourage your student to take the class further by joining our exclusive Sweet Home Economics w/ A Bible MSG Club via our private google classroom page. Your students will have the opportunity to practice the spiritual, social and Home Economics lessons presented in class. Visit our website at AmenWeekly.com and go to the About Us Tab for directions. Our first 2 recipes are Apple and Date Cereal & Miguel’s No Blow-out Chicken Burritos:) See you in the Club!

The Constitution & Homeschool Freedom’s Snap, Crackle & Pop Testimony (2 Corinthians 3:17)

September 19, 2023 by Mrs. Smith

September 17, 2023

2 Corinthians 3:17 Now the Lord is the Spirit, & where the Spirit of the Lord is there is FREEDOM!”

With constitution this past weekend Sunday, September 17th, I wanted to give a HUGE thank you to the #HSLDA! The HSLDA (like our founding fathers when they wrote the constitution), used their vast Bible knowledge & discernment to make private homeschooling legal in the state of California, as of August 8, 2008. To this day, private homeschooling is not legal in every state. That is correct. The freedom to choose the education system that best fits each of our children’s individual God-given talents and abilities is not legal in every state! Our family has been so blessed (and the blessings keep coming) by having the freedom to privately homeschool or choose to “school” in whichever program the Holy Spirit is leading each of our children.

I (Mrs. Smith), decided I wanted to homeschool (back in the Fall of 2018), because I saw the opportunity to individualize our children’s academic & extra curricular programs, based on each of their interests & God-given talents. You see, in my job as a Social Pathologist, prior to having children, it was common place to individualize academic programs for children with special needs.  In my opinion, individualizing academic programs (ONLY  for students with special needs), is discriminatory but that is beside the point.

During that time in 2018-2019, our family had an artist, a passionate Little Leaguer, as well as a first grader who needed a little one-on-one help learning to read. Being encouraged by a friend to individualize our children’s programs through private homeschooling seemed like an amazing opportunity! I could hire experts who were passionate about each of their particular subject areas.  In past history, this type of schooling had only been available to royalty!

Fast forward to Fall 2023 and although I loved individualizing our younger three children’s education & extra curricular activities, the last almost 5 years has had a ton of benefits and my reasons for homeschooling have changed!  The benefit I couldn’t see until we actually homeschooled ourselves was how many memories we have made as a family and our relationships have deepened with each other and each of our four kids which is priceless and can’t be taken away from us (1 Corinthians 13:8). One of the reasons might be because of all the time we have gotten to spend together compared to traditional school but the most obvious reason has been the fellowship of our Spiritual Family Bible study! This only came about due to mandated California quarantine but of course everything works out for God’s reasons by surrendering to our leaders. Romans 8:28!  By putting God’s words into our relationships at home as well as most of the kids academic subjects (like creation science & writing with scripture), the Holy Spirit has begun to sanctify each of us uniquely🔥 I’m not saying God’s words have made us all perfect – we are still a family with conflict like everyone else-but He is burning away our old selves and we are on our way to becoming new (Isaiah 43:19), which is true freedom and freedom that wouldn’t be available without The Bible, The Constitution, the Home School Legal Defense Association (HSLDA), California Home Educators Association (CHEA), and on and on and on and on with friends and helpers ignited by the Holy Spirit!!!! 2 Corinthians 3:17 Thank you for working to keep our state Free to privately homeschool!

Rich Mom’s Tea Party Testimony John 21

May 17, 2023 by Mrs. Smith

5/17/2023

“That was the worst Mother’s Day I ever had!” I said four years ago (2019) after having brunch for the first time at Back Bay Bistro in Newport Beach, Califorina. My son (then in 4th grade) said, “Well at least we know your telling us the truth mom because every year you say that’s the best Mother’s Day you ever had!” Four years ago our oldest was 15 and a high school freshman. Her and our other three kids really didn’t have anything nice to say to me during what should have been a really nice place to celebrate Mother’s Day.

Fast forward one year (2020)  and with mandatory quarantine I had the best Mother’s Day I had had! The reason it was so great in 2020 was because the same daughter who was leading the negativity pack in 2019 actually lead her other 3 siblings to put on a homemade tea party with scones, Devonshire cream,  tea sandwiches, chocolate cake and 2 flavors of macaroons. Julia our second child and daughter handled all the decorations and flowers and it was just beautiful, relaxing & amazing!

As a mostly at- home mom who has served our four children from the time they were newborns that experience really made me understand Jesus in John Chapter  21. Jesus begins by appearing to some of the disciples after his death and resurrection to first tell them which side of the boat they will be able to catch fish on. Ok I’m not Jesus knowing where the fish are that I created but I know my kids more than they know themselves most of the time. I can see clearly (oftentimes) what jobs and callings our kids will have success with if they would just listen to me. Hint hint;)  I have been observing them since they were in utero and I have some good guesses of how Jesus would like them to serve Him. Then as Jesus cooks and serves fish & bread to them for breakfast he starts asking them how they are going to serve Him & others moving forward. Yes!  We have had these conversations with our children at the dinner table!

I  still get choked up thinking about the girls putting on that first Mother’s Day Tea for me.  Our oldest really redeemed herself from the year before but  knowing my children are serving the Lord in their own unique way is really the best Mother’s Day gift I could get and the gift that keeps on giving!

This year my husband and I did most of the work for our now annual tea party at our rented Lake house near Emily’s college.  It makes me so happy to get to spend time with her and watch her work, go to school and plan and do fun things with all her new friends. She is really growing into a young lady of God fast!  This year we got the added blessing to wakesurf for the weekend  as well as explore a part of the Lake that is usually dry land. Thanks to God for all the rain in California it looked like a fresh water Fern Grotto in Kauai with all the green trees and foliage coming down to the lake!

He is Risen! Go Bananas Bread Testimony! Luke 24:6-7

April 6, 2023 by Mrs. Smith

Way back when (about 5 years ago prior to quarantine) we tried to host a real Passover at our local community club house with about 8-10 families.  As it ended up we were not able to do all of the rules and traditions that traditional Jewish families are accustomed to because I did not grow up Jewish and have a model of how this celebration works.  We didn’t even have a long table big enough for everyone to serve each course.  We only had two people present who did grow up Jewish at the party. One of of them is my Speech Pathology mentor and longtime friend but she had not celebrated Passover since childhood. She brought amazing Matza balls though for everyone to enjoy and we had fun just spending time together:) The other person who grew up Jewish at the party was our guitar teacher (who was about 27 at the time) and had only celebrated Passover with his  parents but had never hosted it on his own so without that experience he didn’t really know what/how to implement the traditions.

Anyway, at the end of the party I was telling our good family friends “It didn’t go exactly how I had thought. We didn’t even have a table, ect but I think the kids were at least exposed to the Passover celebration. It was awesome cause our guitar teacher Josh told the story of the Israelites Exodus from Egypt and sang a childhood song to them with his guitar. So it  wasn’t all a Passover Celebration flunk.” Our dad friend was trying to console me a little and laughing said, “ We Christians like our bread like we like our Messiah, RISEN, anyways;)!” SO that made me feel a bit better and gave me a good laugh! Risen bread is much better tasting than unleavened bread:) Relationships with Jesus and friends over bread and wine are much better than rules/10 Commandments:) I still want to attend a real Passover Celebration/Sedar someday but in the meantime we have been having fun, getting creative and not eating leaven on Holy Thursday. We also watch the movie “The 10 Commandments” and listen to the song Exodus by Bob Marley:)

Sarah made our homemade He is Risen! Go Bananas Bread Recipe and we froze the dough so that we can eat fresh banana bread on Easter morning! He is Risen and so is our Bread, indeed;) Luke 24:6-7
